GO ON YOUR OWN ADVENTURE!

Ruth Ann and The Green BlowsterTM Summary

Written by Ruth Ann’s DaughterTM (Kathy Luders)

Ruth Ann and The Green BlowsterTM is a children’s chapter fantasy novel that has taken over 80 years to reach you. Frances Willey Beebe, my maternal grandmother (a society editor for the San Diego Sun, circa 1912 and scriptwriter for Universal Studios on Sunset and Gower circa 1914) began this story as a gift for my mother.  Though she died 16 years before my birth and we never met, our imaginations have, and we have written this book together. Primarily a read-along book for young children, Ruth Ann and The Green Blowster is a book that can be enjoyed by readers and listeners of all ages in the manner of children’s classics such as Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz.

Ruth AnnTM is a sad and lonely child who has lost her best friend Dukey DaddlesTM.  She knows nothing about The Green BlowsterTM and being hurled aloft his breath column to High Country. She has never met the PinheadsTM or saved a life.  She likes listening to the birds in the forest but certainly never imagined being used for their target practice.  She knows nothing of Loppy WollopsTM and why he uses a cudgel to force Incorrigible RiverTM to remain within its bounds when the Black WeeperTM cannot control his tears.  Ruth Ann knows nothing of treachery or funeral pyres, or of flying to the Heaven of Lucky Dogs in a passenger basket strapped to a flying fish...BUT SHE WILL!

She is about to team up with Whistle StickTM and Lonesome SnakeTM and cross paths with many of High Country’s creatures, some friendly and some not. Their perilous adventure begins as Ruth Ann and Whistle Stick are whirled and swirled through limitless space a little after midnight...TONIGHT!
